WELCOME TO SCSY XLII!!
It is with delight and honor that I invite you to attend the forty-second session of the revamped Specialized & Crisis Simulation at Yale (SCSY) conference, to be held from October 24-27th, 2019, on the beautiful Yale University campus. In its 41-year history, SCSY has strived to provide a unique experience on the collegiate Model UN circuit, and this year, our secretariat is hard-at-work building upon this legacy of stellar debate and social events — and preparing to bring on the best SCSY yet!
The SCSY XLII team is proud to be providing the most exciting and enriching delegate experience this year — by expanding its committee offerings with the inclusion of our first ever specialized committees, by offering graduate student panels, and by encouraging new friendships through unforgettable social events. I have no doubt that every single delegate will find their place both within committee, discussing some of the most pressing issues of our time, and outside of committee, bonding with college students from all corners of the planet.
From our most professional committees to our wildest fantasy simulations, our dedicated chairs will create spaces in which to explore all sorts of creative ideas and solutions. Our conference is now thrilled to offer a set of specialized committees (in addition to our beloved dynamic crisis committees) featuring the Model UN format we know and love, for delegates who wish to participate in substantial debate without the demand of crises. Delegates hoping to build their experience at SCSY will be able to do so in the most supportive of environments, while more veteran delegates will continue to enjoy the SCSY they’ve always known. Our committees will be professional and engaging, but also fun in their own unique ways. We encourage you to delve into our conference with deep ideas, worthwhile solutions, and a healthy dose of humor.
Building upon the initiatives from last year, we are also overjoyed to implement a reworked financial aid program with a new distance-based system, and improved social events spanning Friday and Saturday night (which will be integrated with Yale students!) Do take a look at the relevant pages on our website for more information about those programs and events.
We hope you will take advantage of the work we have been putting in to SCSY XLII, and on behalf of our secretariat and dais teams, I sincerely hope you will join us on Yale’s wonderful campus this fall.
All the best,
Specialized & Crisis Simulation at Yale XLII
