DIRECTOR GENERAL OF COMMITTEES:

ZACH GOLD

Zach Gold is the Director-General of Committees for SCSY XLI. Originally from Ardsley, NY, he is Grace Hopper College 2021 and planning to major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Zach is also on the secretariat for Yale Model Government Europe (YMGE) and has been a chair for Yale Model UN (YMUN). When not taking part in international relations conferences, Zach plays the double bass, works for a student-run policy think tank that focuses on energy and the environment, and gives science tours at Yale. He enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and pretty much anything involving the outdoors. You can reach him at scsy.dg.committees@yira.org.

SECRETARY GENERAL:

JESSICA AINOOSON

Jessica Ainooson is a member of Stiles College 2020 and the current Secretary-General of SCSY XLI. Jessica was born and raised in Boston, but her family is originally from Ghana. Jessica is a History of Medicine and Science major who is also in the Global Health Studies program. After deciding that pre-med was no longer for her, Jessica has dedicated herself to taking more seminars on health, race, and migration. Outside of SCSY, Jessica does African dance with Dzana, spoken word with Oyé, and she also tutors for the Urban Improvement Corps. Outside of that, Jessica is obsessed with ice-cream, music, and writing. DIRECTOR GENERAL OF OPERATIONS: 

HENRY SUCKOW ZIEMER

Henry Suckow Ziemer is the Director-General of Operations for SCSY XLI. Henry is a member of the Class of 2021 from Silliman College planning to major in Global Affairs and History. When not involved with SCSY, Henry teaches international relations to New Haven high school students, writes for the Yale Review of International Studies, takes perhaps one too many trips to local coffee shops and reads lots of science fiction. ORNELLA BAYIGAMBA

Ornella Bayigamba is a rising sophomore majoring in chemical engineering. She is extremely excited to serve as one of the Under Secretary Generals of Committees for SCSY XLI. Last year she served as an Assistant Secretary General of Administration for SCSY XL and felt that the experience was not only fun, but also helped her gain invaluable knowledge on the operational side of Model UN conferences. Within YIRA, she also currently takes on the roles of a Hemispheres Instructor and Yale Model Government Europe Director General of Operations. Outside of MUN, she enjoys being a Engineering Tour Guide, working in her residential college, Pauli Murray (MY), buttery—affectionately called the MY BUTT—and painting when she is free. MINAHIL NAWAZ

Minahil Nawaz is Timothy Dwight College Class of 2021, and will serve as the USG of Committees for SCSY XLI. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Minahil is a prospective Global Affairs and Film & Media Studies major here at Yale. Apart from SCSY, Minahil has also been involved in other YIRA conferences, and outside of YIRA, Minahil is involved in the Yale Student Film Festival, the South Asian Society and the Refugee Project. While Minahil spends most of her free time walking to places from TD, she also loves to travel, drink orange juice and procrastinate! NEELAM SANDHU

Neelam Sandhu is a rising sophomore in Pierson College (‘21), and is thrilled to be serving as one of the USGs of Committees for SCSY XLI, along with the rest of the talented Secretariat. Hailing from the cold state of New Hampshire, but having family connections all around the world, Neelam is a prospective Global Affairs and Economics double major with a passion for diplomacy and international relations. She is heavily involved in Yale’s International Relations Association (YIRA), working on various conferences and as a member of Yale’s competitive Model UN travel team, MUNTY. Outside of YIRA, Neelam is in the South Asian Society, is a concert pianist and competitive skier, and loves to travel. TEAVA SORRES DE SA

Teava Torres de Sa is a mathematics major in Grace Hopper college Class of 2021. Teava is passionate about community engagement and programs for underprivileged youth. As the Treasurer of the New Haven Urban Debate League, he is excited to is excited to serve on the SCSY 2018 Secretariat to deliver the best conference experience possible. Teava can be found either working on psets or recovering from psets. He’s excited to have a hand in SCSY 2018 and looks forward to working with the rest of the Secretariat to make it amazing! UNDERSECRETARY GENERAL OF BUSINESS AND CONFERENCE:

GREGORY JANY

Gregory is a student in Jonathan Edwards College Class of 2021. He hails from the diverse archipelago of Indonesia, and is incredibly excited to take part in SCSY XLI this year as the Under-Secretary General of Business and Conference. Besides SCSY, Gregory has also been involved with YMUN Taiwan, YMGE, IRSY, and YMUN. Outside of YIRA, Gregory can be found engaging with several student groups, among them the Indonesia Yale Association, and enjoys getting iced coffee at New Haven’s various cafes. UNDERSECRETARY GENERAL OF TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN:

RENEE ONG

Renee, the Under-Secretary General of Technology and Design, is Trumbull College Class of 2021 and a prospective Political Science/Economics major.  Renee has served on the secretariats of YMUN, IRSY, and YMUNK, and hopes to continue her involvement within YIRA. At Yale, she's also involved in student government and engineering groups. She calls a number of places home, including Singapore, Malaysia and Greenwich, CT.
